Camera Equipment Buying or Upgrading

This class is suitable for anyone whom is either; buying a camera for the first time or upgrading either to an Optical DLSR Digital camera, or a Mirrorless Digital camera. You will have a great opportunity to learn from a Professional Photography Tutor, and benefit from the Tutor’s vast knowledge of digital camera equipment. Learn about the unique differences between both types of digital cameras, understanding camera systems, lenses, related accessories and photographic equipment, some of which will be on hand, to demonstrate through Camera Warehouse Tempe, whom will have an experienced staff member on hand, whom will be able to show a selection of digital cameras; both optical DSLR and Mirrorless, and their associated lenses, and accessories.

In the last hour, students will be able to ask about camera equipment and photography related questions, in an open chat session, at a local cafe in the Jannali shopping precinct. Take your time, learn and know exactly what you need and make an informed decision, about your first or next digital camera, this class enables students to purchase their camera prior to Our Getting To Know Your Camera Class, which is offered every term through the College.

  • What does crop factor mean?
  • What is noise?

  • What do I really need for camera for?
  • How do I know if I really like a camera, and it is really suitable for me?
  • What is the difference between a consumer and professional Camera?
  • What is a prosumer camera?

What to wear:

As there will be demonstrations outdoors these additional items are strongly recommended
Weatherproof clothing / clothing for warmer or cool weather

  • Cool / wet weather warm clothing / jumper, mini umbrella (no large umbrellas for safety reasons) and rain jacket
  • Warmer weather – comfortable clothing, hat and sunglasses, sunscreen, bug repellent

Footwear:

Please note; as there are some uneven and loose surfaces, enclosed footwear is recommended, no open footwear i.e. sandals can be worn for this field trip.
For safety purposes acceptable footwear is as follows; walking shoes, running shoes, bush walking shoes or hiking boots, (weather-proof footwear is advisable).

"My name is Neoklis Bloukos and I have had a passion for Photography since I was 14 years old. With over 45 years of experience with camera equipment, 25 years as a Press Photographer and over 16 years of digital post processing.

I am now a Professional Photography Tutor, teaching the whole spectrum of Photography from Buying a Camera, Getting to Know your Camera, Beginners, Intermediate and Masterclass (Advanced) Photography at SGSCC.

I am passionate about Photography, and I love to teach and share both classic and modern Photography techniques, and believe it is the most significant visual medium on this planet.
