Cake Decorating - A Cake with Bling

Enjoy decorating a cake with bling! You will learn to cover a small cake and create a jewelled stiletto using sugarpaste to use as a cake topper. Some materials may need to be purchased additional to course costs.

What to bring:

All cake decorating items available from Cake Decorating Solutions, Caringbah or otherwise online.

  • 8" cake, approx 3" tall (preferably not sponge)
  • 11" silver covered masonite cake board
  • 2 quantities of butter icing
  • Spatula or long knife for applying buttercream
  • 2 colours of food colouring (paste is better for deeper colour, liquid also OK)
  • White fondant – suggest Bakels (or similar) - 500g
  • Small bottle of CMC/Tylose – to mix with fondant
  • Small bottle of Rolkem, Sticky Stuff – to glue sugarpaste and sanding sugar
  • 1 colour Sanding sugar (to decorate stiletto)
  • Tea towel and sponge for clean up
  • Small rolling pin
