Boxercise

Boxercise is a boxing for fitness class that suits all fitness levels. We use the basic techniques of boxing tailored to all participants. this total body workout employs many major and minor muscles in the body giving you an all over workout. It will increase muscle strength, tone your whole body, plus improve your cardio fitness.

Using boxing gloves and focus pads you and your partner will take turns boxing, combining boxing and exercise in a fun environment. It is a stress busting activity to suit everyone who wants to enjoy boxing training without getting hit. It combines the use of aerobic and anaerobic energy systems with the recruitment of both fast and slow twitch muscle fibres that ensures a diverse workout. It also enhances hand eye co-ordination, balance and timing and you’ll improve your cardio fitness.

Bring a friend or enrol on your own, we will match you with a partner.

Course Outline:

  • Weeks 1 and 2 – Learn the fundamentals
  • Weeks 3 and 4 – Perfect your boxing style
  • Weeks 5 to 10 – Each week the intensity increases, developing your fitness

What to bring:

  • Towel
  • Water
  • Boxing gloves (if you own any but we have plenty at the college)
  • Cotton gloves to wear inside gloves and pads (can be purchased at chemists etc or Tutor has a few available for $2- a pair)

About the Tutor:

Hi, I’m Ruth Brown. I have been involved in the fitness industry for over 15 years. My qualifications include: Cert III and Cert IV in fitness, boot camp instructor, nutrition, dragon boat coach and of course boxing for fitness. I have run many classes at the college over the past 10 years. My passion is boxing and my mantra is – if exercise is fun people will continue to participate – which means you will stay healthy and enjoy life’s activities.
