Ballet Core

Have you always admired the elegance of ballet dancing and want to give it a try yourself? Join us for this fun ballet class at SGSCC! Have fun in this gentle exercise class! Designed to improve your posture, strengthen your core, pelvic floor and hip stabilisers, and tone muscles using simple to follow movements based on Classical Ballet. No ballet experience is needed.

This class is suitable for all fitness levels including beginners. You will be encouraged to work at your own pace, and individual modifications can be given. The Ballet Core program is low intensity, ideal for anyone getting back into exercise or recovering from injury. There are also challenge options for anyone who wants to challenge themselves. You will be learning some basic ballet techniques while you exercise, based on the Russian Vaganova method of Classical Ballet.

Course Outline:

  • The class begins with a warm-up at the barre, followed by basic ballet exercises concentrating on posture and use of the core muscles. The legs and glutes will get a great workout!
  • Centre practice focus is on balance and movement. You will also learn some snippets from actual ballet repertoire, that is fun to do and easy to follow along!
  • Bring a yoga mat for Pilates exercises concentrating on core strengthening and Lumbo-pelvic stability, ideal for anyone with lower back issues.
  • Each class finishes with a gentle stretch and a relaxation meditation, to leave you feeling relaxed and a general sense of well-being.

About the Tutor:

'Nycole is a former professional Classical Ballet dancer, choreographer, and Ballet teacher. Teaching RAD ballet to Solo Seal level, Vaganova (Russian) ballet method and the NSW HSC Classical Ballet syllabus. Nycole has a diploma in Classical Ballet and was an original BASI Pilates student, at the McDonald College of Performing Arts in Sydney, with world renown Pilates Instructor, and founder of BASI Pilates Rael Isacowitz. Nycole is certified in the Elixr Pilates Method of Matwork and Reformer. Nycole is also a fitness instructor and a brown belt in karate martial life.'
