Art Appreciation & Conscious Art Creating

For those of you who are Non-Artist Creatives or feel you have loads of untapped creative potential, but are unsure where to start and also wanting to work on learning how to “switch off” and “unwind” through creative outlets. This introductory workshop is designed to be simple, mindful and relaxing in a fun, social setting. There will be focus on hands on creating as well as group discussion and sharing as well as reflection time in the workshop session.Learn to embrace Eco-Conscious Creating in everyday living as it is simple, mindful, fun and very liberating. All levels of creative and artistic flair welcome.

Content:

The workshop will focus on connecting with your inner creative-self through learning about art appreciation and connecting with our environment on a creative level as a form of relaxation and mindfulness in our daily life.

  • Focusing on appreciating art from historical elements, colour, design and styles of art forms.
  • Practical and experiential hands-on activity, creating your own creative personalised experimental artwork using fun creative mixed media techniques. Utilising various art mediums that are derived from and inspired from nature and natural elements, hence the term Eco-Conscious Creating.

Art media utilised may include: Canvas, Acrylic Paints, Watercolours/inks & markers, paper & embellishments, bric-a-brac. Natural & organic materials derived from nature.

Facilitated by an Artist/Art Therapy and Wellbeing Facilitator.

Duration: 1x 6 hour workshop (20 minute break is included, participants may bring a light lunch/snack and drinks on the day as there will be no food truck available. Vending machines are available on premises for snacks and cold drinks.

Material Costs per person:

Materials and art requirement will be provided on the day. All participants will be contacted by the Tutor prior to the workshop regarding any additional necessary materials

About the tutor:

'Melissa (Mel) Martin is a contemporary artist, practicing Art Therapy and is a Champion of Change, who has taken her interests and professional training in People Management/Organisational Psychology, and Art Therapy to a new level of experiencing self- awareness. Mel runs local creative art classes/workshops through Learning and Community Centres as well as privately, where she explores with small groups their true selves and the potential they have and the fear that is holding them back. Offering a varied range of personalised Creative Art Services from Art Therapy and Mindfulness practices, exploring a range of mixed media art techniques and tools to facilitate imaginative fun and creative expression, which can facilitate team building opportunities, reduce stress, improve confidence, compassion, problem solving skills, workflow and life balance.'

  • To ensure resources are ready for you at the start of your course, we ask you ideally enrol at least one week before the course commences.
  • All courses need a minimum number of students to run ("we try our hardest to get those") . If your course does not have enough students it will be cancelled prior to the commencement and you will be informed.
